Acerca de Salomón
Solomon’s first approach to the seventh art was at school, where he made his first short “Who I am” as a degree project. The short was inspired by the existentialism of man. In 2002 he began studying philosophy at the Universidad de Los Andes. His passion for cinema made him give up philosophy and focus his career on it. He studied Film at the Black María School, where he developed two 16mm short films “Fe” and “Sin-Fonica”.
In 2004 he travelled to Sydney, Australia, where he deepened his study at the APA International Film School. He made the short film “Smile”, with which he was nominated for Best Dramatic Short at the Los Angeles Short Film Fest and with which he won Best Art Direction at the InVitro Visual International Festival, now known as the Bogotá Short Film Festival. In Australia he made his way to directing commercials. He directed his first campaign for Carlton Cold beer.
In 2006 he returned to Bogotá and began working as Director for Direktor Films Production Company. Where he directed music videos and commercials for brands such as Toyota, Ax, Unilever, Renault, Alpina and Pepsi, among others. Where he was recognized with several advertising awards. In 2011 he travelled to China to work as a director at the RCN INNOVA production company. In 2012, his destiny took him to Mexico to work as director of commercials and content for the Mr Woo Films Production Company. In 2014, he returned to Bogotá with the idea of opening the iconic independent film house, Cine Tonalá. That same year he directed the feature film “Detective Marañón” for Dynamo commissioned by Caracol.
Last 6 years he was the manager, programmer and distributor of Cine Tonalá Bogotá. He simultaneously opened his own production company PRESENTE focused on advertising, new technologies and music videos. He is represented by production companies in the United States (Wildhorse Pictures), Mexico and Spain (Kids). He has directed videos for artists such as JBalvin, Shaggy, Nicky Jam, Farruko, Karol G, Sech, Chocquibtown, Esteman, among others. He has won 3 awards for Best Music Video of the Year at the Bogoshorts festival and Best Music Video at the Shock Awards. A trajectory that has made him recognized for his storytelling and visual aesthetics.
