Acerca de JIAJIE
Jiajie Yu (1989) was born in Barcelona to Chinese parents. His first experience in a shoot was in 2007, participating as an actor in a commercial for Pepsi. Since then, he knew that his thing was to be on a film set.
He graduated in Audiovisual Communication from the Ramón Llull University and did a Master’s Degree in Screenwriting and Film Directing at the Bande à Part film school. Thanks to a scholarship, obtained from more than 380 participants, he moved to Madrid to study a Master’s Degree in Digital Cinema Photography Direction at EFTI.
His projects have been awarded twice in a row by the Thailand International Film Destination Festival, with his short films A Lonely Trip (2014) and Blissful City (2015). Both projects are part of the Amazing Thailand Film Challenge, a contest where directors from different parts of the world took on the challenge of shooting and delivering the project in just 5 days and with a team of only 2 people. His short film Aliens (2016) was filmed in Benidorm and has been selected in more than 40 Spanish and international festivals, several of them were qualifiers for the Goya Awards. His latest project, Xiao Xian (2019), was nominated for the 2020 Goya Awards for best fiction short film and has achieved the record of 10 nominations and 5 awards at the Fugaz Awards (CortoEspaña). It is currently being distributed at festivals, obtaining, so far, more than 100 official selectiob ns and more than 30 awards.
Following Xiao Xian’s success, he decides to develop San Dai Shi Guang, his first feature film. A female portrait of the Chinese community in Madrid through the gaze of three generations.
